China–Cambodia Free Trade Agreements
On July 20th, 2020 Minister of Commerce Zhong Shan and Cambodian Minister of Commerce Pan Sousa held a video conference to jointly announce the completion of the China-Cambodia Free Trade Agreement negotiations, and in-depth exchange of views on issues such as strengthening the two countries’ anti-epidemic cooperation and deepening bilateral economic and trade relations . Wang Shouwen, Vice Minister of Commerce and Deputy Representative of International Trade Negotiations, attended the meeting.
Zhong Shan said that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Cambodia. President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Hun Sen attach great importance to the China-Cambodia free trade negotiations and have given important instructions on many occasions. The successful conclusion of the bilateral free trade agreement is a concrete measure to implement the instructions of the leaders of the two countries, develop the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries, and promote the building of a China-Cambodia community with a shared future. Practical actions to stabilize the regional supply chain and promote the recovery of the regional economy.
The Ministry of Commerce of China is willing to continue to work together with the Ministry of Commerce of Cambodia to do a good job in signing the agreement, and take the opportunity of reaching a free trade agreement to promote bilateral economic and trade cooperation to a new level and contribute to the building of an open world economy.
Pan Sousa said that the completion of China-Cambodia free trade negotiations is a milestone in the development of bilateral relations, marking that the two sides have entered a new era of comprehensive strategic partnership and cooperation in the construction of the “Belt and Road”, and will promote bilateral economic and trade relations to New level. Cambodia is willing to work together with China to take the opportunity of completing the free trade negotiations to contribute to the economic and trade development of both parties and the recovery of the global economy.
