China-Panama Free Trade Agreements
On April 26, 2019 the fifth round of negotiations on the China-Panama Free Trade Agreement was held in Beijing. Based on previous negotiations, the two parties have conducted in-depth consultations on trade in goods, service trade, financial services, investment, rules of origin, customs procedures and trade facilitation, trade remedies, trade and economic cooperation, and legal issues, and the negotiations have made positive progress.
It is an important consensus reached by the leaders of China and Panama to start the construction of the China-Panama Free Trade Area. In June 2019, China and Panama formally announced the launch of negotiations on the China-Panama Free Trade Agreement.
